NYFW Fall 2016 - My Favourite Shows

I get so excited when Fashion Week starts in New York, it means I have 4 weeks of watching beautiful outfits and shoes, getting little bits of inspiration for what I am going to incorporate into my wardrobe in the coming seasons... It's fantastic! With an increase in social media, we can now watch more shows than ever online, however it does come with a caveat - the current season is likely to be the last one ever in this format, as Burberry has announced that starting in September they will be showing in Season. Basically at the moment all shows are 6 months ahead of the release, so that buyers can pick which items from the collection they want to have in store, however as social media has become more prevalent, shoppers now want to purchase items that they have seen on the runway straight away. So I think it's going to be an interesting couple of seasons while all these changes happen!

Anyway... I thought I would do a series of 4 posts showing you a couple of my favourite looks from the shows! This week it is New York, next will be London, the following will be Milan, and finally Paris!

Michael Kors Collection

This has been one of my favourite shows to watch for a long time, and it were some of his pieces which were my first ever designer purchases. I know that there is currently a trend for Michael Michael Kors Bags and Watches, but look past those and check out his Ready To Wear collection, it's a thing of beauty.

This season, his show was all about movement and juxtaposition, so there were lots of feathers, and floaty materials, and he was turning convention on it's head - sparkly dresses or heels for day time, jumpers or flats for the evening.

If you want to watch the whole show, you will find it on the Michael Kors Youtube Channel.

Victoria Beckham

I've been a fan of Victoria Beckham since I was a little girl pretending to be a Spice Girl, and in my teens I was frequently guided by her book "That Extra Half an Inch" so when she made her fashion week début in 2008, I was really interested. I loved her collection then, it was so sleek and classy - she knew how to make women look good, over the years she has fluctuated slightly, but this season she has gone back to her basics: truly beautiful silhouettes.

The Victoria Beckham Fall 2016 Show is also available on her Youtube Channel.

Diane Von Furstenberg
I'm not entirely sure how to describe this show, you may have seen some videos on Snapchat or Instagram, but it wasn't a traditional runway show, this season Diane Von Furstenberg focused around five ideas: movement, fencing, traditional office, creative office and party. All I can say is that it's different! The clothes are incredibly beautiful as always, but as much as I loved the presentation, I kind of felt like it is detracting from them somehow!

Rodarte
When I watched the Rodarte show, all I could think of was WOW. It isn't just that the clothes are incredibly beautiful, but also the music, the styling, how the girls faces were painted like dolls, with their perfect deep red lips. It was a fairytale, but definitely a Hans Christian Anderson version!

I definitely recommend watching this show, it is available on their Youtube Channel.
Alexander Wang

This show has to be one of the edgiest at fashion week, the decision to put such a boundary pushing show in a church, was incredible. The exposed breasts, stripper pole prints and leather dog collars could not have stuck out more, however it only works because he has such incredible pieces within the collection. Some of my favourite items this season were when he took traditional items, such as tweed suits, and made them his: short skirts, huge silver detailing, but still incredibly well cut.

Keep an eye out for my favourites from London Fashion Week coming up soon! Let me know in the comments what you thought of the shows!

Rosie for Autograph Makeup Collection Review

I have been a huge Rosie for Autograph fan for a long time, and have several sets of her underwear, and when I heard about her makeup collection, I knew it was going to be beautiful - and I wasn't disappointed.

Everything is so sleek and rose gold coloured, with simple classy packaging and the products inside are fab. By far, my favourite item I purchased was the Lady Rose lipstick, and I will definitely be getting some more colours. The pigmentation is brilliant, the texture is so creamy, and it contains Argan Oil - which is a stroke of genius, because it isn't drying in the slightest. I would describe the finish as semi-matte, the colour lasts for so long, it hardly moved when I had a drink and a snack. The lipstick is priced at £14, so we are in the same price as MAC, and to be honest I would say yes - just as good!

Finally, can I just say they have done something very simple but brilliant: magnetic closure for the lipstick lid. Celebrate ladies, you won't have to fish about in the bottom of your handbag for the lid anymore!

If you have been following my blog for a while, you will know that I love collecting perfumes, as I like a different one for every occasion! Well I can't pass up a beautiful (and reasonable priced) bottle, so I picked up the first Rosie for Autograph perfume. This has been out for quite a long time, but somehow I have always overlooked it. However for £12 for 30ml Eau de Parfum, it is definitely worth getting if you like flowery scents. As you would expect this is a very rose scented perfume, which isn't really my winter thing, but I'm definitely more floral in spring/ summer - so expect to smell it on me a lot then... in the meantime it just looks beautiful in my collection!

I decided to pick up a couple of the makeup sticks, I decided that the starstruck contour was a must have, and also the miracle concealer. Although I want to try the highlighter stick too...

I think the contour stick is fantastic, I got it in the lighter shade, which I would say is perfect for my skin tone, it is so easy to use, and works amazingly with a beauty blender! Such a quick way to contour!

I'm not sure how I feel about the miracle concealer, but I'm not certain I would call it my miracle product... I got it in colour 1, which seems ok, but to be honest there wasn't a lot of choice, which I think is quite disappointing. It is also very warm toned, which makes it good for under eyes, as it really helps with any dark circles, but warning - do not try and use it on any blemishes. I found it made them look a lot more obvious!! So yep, slightly mixed review - if you want something just for under eyes, the consistency and colour works. Just don't use it for anything else.

Saving one of the best till last.... I LOVE the Amazing Radiance cream! This is a brilliant product. Seriously no downsides. The consistency glides onto my skin (and my skin is quite fussy) and sits really well underneath my foundation. The glow it gives is amazing, it isn't sparkly or anything else, it just makes your skin look luminous! I can also see this working really well in the summer when I have a tan, because I would just use it on its own for a light makeup look!

I did try and swatch the products, but the sun came out and I got a bit washed out!! However you can still see how pigmented the lipstick is, this was literally one swipe! You can also see the warm tone from the concealer, and the contour stick was a couple of swipes to show the colour - but I love that it's build able!

Amazing Radiance Cream swatch - I didn't really want to blend this in because it disappears, and you wouldn't see it... which is kind of the point!

So what do you think? Have you picked up any of the Rosie for Autograph Makeup? Is there any other bits I need to try? I'm probably going to get the highlighter stick, and another lipstick (or two) so if there is anything you think I can't live without let me know in the comments and I'll pick it up!

Lots of love
